Cooking Ingredients for Light Brownies Recipe

1/3 c Butter, or replace with:
1/3 c -Shortening mixed with
1 tb -Hot water
1 c Brown sugar
1 Egg
1 ts Vanilla
1 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/8 ts Baking soda
4 oz Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 c Chopped nuts, optional

Light Brownies Preparation

Melt butter (or shortening with water) in sauce pan over medium heat. Remove from heat, add to brown sugar and mix well. Allow mixture to cool. Stir in egg and vanilla. Add remaining dry ingredients and mix well. Pour mixture into greased baking pan (8×8 or 11×7). Bake at 350 deg. F for 20 to 25 minutes. – Anne Duke
